Help needed: Technical debt

Hey,
I installed dawarich on April 29th, 2025 and just let it run. There was never an update and I just threw all data point in there. A lot of points.
Like 350.000. I use owntrack to record every 45 seconds (sometimes more, somethimes less) and every week or so I enable networkaccess for the app, so it doesnt kill my battery.

Now I have a year of history, no management and I sit on v0.26.something.

Do you recomment to update piece by piece (from breaking change to breaking change) or should I just export all the datapoints, and rm -rf the whole thing with a fresh reinstall?

And I’d like to test the reverse geocoding feature by selfhosting the service. I read a long time ago that there are images ready to self-deploy.

But I have to read that again for myself. Forgot a lot about it
I’d also appreciate your opinion on this matter. What service would you suggest etc…

I’d suggest making a backup and then update from one breaking change to another.

For reverse geocoding I use photon with rtuszik’s docker image
